My Moldavite Obsession

The absolute best of the best !

There are 2 types of moldavites which come from the Besednice region - the world renowned Hedgehog or hog and the more 'normal' type of moldavite.  The difference between the regular moldavite (in the other categories) and the 'normal' Besednice moldavite is the absolutely outstanding etching.  The Hedgehog is different again and from a very specific depth of the Besednice mine.  Some are quite distinctive and almost like a feather or leaf.  The larger Hedgehogs retain the unmistakable Besednice sculputring.   The name Hedgehog comes from the shape and the spikiness - so prickly you could almost draw blood on the spikes!  These are often so delicate I'm almost scared to pick them up and every time I do pick one up I marvel that they have survived 14 - 15 million years underground, amazing! 

The mine that produced the Hedgehogs closed some years ago.  Our stock is reliant on people selling their collections and often we can only get one or two at a time.  Hedgehogs are not always available and we urge you to grab them while you can.
